Clockwork Lecture and Technical Demonstration

This lecture will cover the basics of modern clockwork technology. Escapements, gears, drives, chiming mechanisms and more will be discussed. At the end of the one hour lecture there will be some examples provided of the mechanisms discussed and some of the tools used to work on said systems. Students are asked to bring any interesting clocks (not watches, and nothing electrical) for potential examination.

This is a more technically oriented class than the first offering - special attention will be paid to ensuring a clear understanding of the mechanisms is enjoyed by class participants.

John is originally from London and now operates a clock repair shop in New York City. He once was the Conservator of the- NAWCC Museum, and also conducted clock repair classes for the NAWCC. He is a Craft Member of the British Horological Institute.
